Courtney & Ryan’s wedding day was one of the most relaxed we’ve ever had the privilege to photograph. The two of them each got ready at their childhood homes, since they grew up just 10 minutes from one another. Courtney and Ryan spent months working closely with their families to prepare for their wedding day, and we saw throughout the weekend how important and influential each of their families is to them. One of the largest undertakings in preparing for the wedding was a gorgeous pavilion that Courtney’s family constructed on their property. This open-air structure was built from reclaimed lumber and beautiful stone, and the final touches were put on it the morning of the wedding.

These two have been together more than six years now, and endured much of that as a long-distance relationship. Their wedding day was the perfect reflection of the love and support they have from their friends and family. It was an honor for us to capture the deep and enduring love Courtney and Ryan have for one another.

A few fun details about their wedding day:

– The morning of the wedding, Ryan gifted his mom the book Love You Forever (you know, the children’s book you can’t get to the end of without crying…or maybe that’s just me). It was such a sweet moment shared between the two of them as she read the letter he’d written to her and pasted in the back of the book.

– The bridesmaids, some of Courtney’s friends, and her Nana helped create all the bouquets and floral arrangements the day before.

– Courtney is one of six. For her first dance with Ryan, her three brothers and two sisters performed Lucky by Jason Mraz. I mean, talk about adorable.

– Courtney heard the singer/songwriters known as Alathea perform while she was in college and dreamed of having them play one day at their wedding. Dream come true! The two Tennessee mountain girls serenaded us with their folksy voices and had everyone’s toes a-tappin’!
